What is the Destination THAILAND VISA?
As of July of 2024, Thailand has introduced the DTV or the Destination Thailand VISA for tourist to come and visit Thailand and can stay there at a time for up to 180 days!!
Usually for us Filipinos tourists, we can stay in Thailand for up to 60 days. But with the new DTV, you can extend your Thai vacations up to 180 days without exiting the country.
This VISA type was created in order to promote THAI tourism and is open to various nationalities!!!
Who can apply for the Destination Thailand VISA?
The DTV is focused on 3 main tourist groups: The Workation Crowd, the Thai Soft Power Tourist and the Dependents for the Destination THAI VISA.
The Workation Crowd
Thailand is a haven for Digital Nomads. Virtual Assistants, Freelancers, Bloggers, Vlogggers, Social Media personalities and other Content Creators flock to Bangkok, Phuketh, Chiang Mai and other Thai cities for that so called Work / Life Balance!!!
You can work at day and party at night or go on vacations during weekends.
These are the things that you need to prepare when applying as a Digital Nomad for the DTV
- Biodata page of passport or travel document
- Photograph taken within the last six months
- Document indicating current location
- Financial evidence that you have at least 500,000 baht (approx. PHP820,358) in funds such as bank statement, sponsorship letter, etc.
- Employment contract or employment certificate in their country or professional portfolio showcasing digital nomad, foreign talent, remote worker, or freelancer status
With cheap food, affordable accommodations and great internet connectivity, Thailand is focusing on Digital nomads to their avail the 180 days visa.
THAI SOFT POWER ACTIVITIES
If you are into Thai culture, the applying for the the DTV and use the Thai Soft Power Activities as your main reason on why you should be given permission to stay in the country for 180 days. Some activities considered as Thai Soft activities are:
- Muay Thai courses
- Thai cooking courses
- Sports training
- Seminars
- Music festivals
Those who wish to avail medical treatments in Thailand can also avail the DTV as part of the Thai Soft Power Activities.
Here are the requirements that you need to prepare if you wish to apply for Destinations Thailand VISA using the Thai Soft Power Activities:
- Biodata page of passport or travel document
- Photograph taken within the last six months
- Document indicating current location
- Financial evidence that you have at least 500,000 baht (approx. PHP820,358) in funds such as bank statement, sponsorship letter, etc.
- Proof of confirmation to attend the activity of letter of appointment from medical center/hospital
Dependents of DTV Holders
Of course you can also bring your family with you in Thailand for up to 180. Your kids can also apply for the visa.
Your SPOUSE and Kids under 20 Years old can be given the DTV just like you!!!

- Proof of relationship to the DTV visa holder, such as copy of birth certificate, marriage certificate, or certificate of adoption
