There are new direct flights going to Japan, South Korea, and Thailand from the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIAA). This is great news for Cebuanos and those from the Visayas and Mindanao area, as they need not go to Manila airport first for a connecting flight to their ultimate destination.

A. CEBU PACIFIC AIR
New routes from Cebu Pacific Air flying in and out of Cebu to Bangkok, THAILAND.
- Cebu to Bangkok (DMK), Thailand – total fare is P4,154.10, this is under the base fare of P2,199. If the promo now is piso fare, then the one-way total rate with all add-ons (no baggage) is less than P2,000. If you can wait, do wait for the piso sale before you book for Bangkok or any other destination in the Cebu Pacific network.
- Cebu to Osaka, Japan – the rate for a flight leaving in February 2025 to Osaka is P5,199 under Go Basic plan (no baggage). The base fare for this ticket is P3,087. Again, there is no BIG sale now over at Cebu Pacific. During piso fare promo, you can score a round trip flight Cebu to Osaka to Cebu for around P5,000.

B. AERO-K
New entrant to the Cebu Airport is the budget airline from South Korea, AERO-K. The offer is vice versa route Cebu to Cheongju.
We are so sorry, we can’t get the ticket price for this airline because their website is in Korean, and the English translation is not very helpful either. We think this route is open primarily to cater to Koreans. There are tons of South Korean tourists and students learning English, in Cebu.
C. UNITED AIRLINES
United Airlines is serving new direct flight from Cebu to Narita daily.
Cebu to Narita, Japan cost $1,221 for a December 2024 economy flight. We also checked the rate for March 2025, it’s the same. Honestly, we are shocked that this is very expensive haha. Our Pisofare Team is used to budget airline, not full-service carriers like United. The nice thing about this fare, is that it is fully refundable. Maybe some of our readers can afford? Because we sure can’t at this rate.
Oh by the way, make sure your passport is valid at least for another 6 months on the day of travel. Secure your visa early for those countries that requires it like Japan and South Korea. Remember that most budget airlines usually does not offer refund for airfares booked on promo rates.
Anyway, at least now there is another choice of going to Japan, Thailand, and South Korea and it does not require you to catch a connecting flight in Manila. This counts for something!
