If it’s your first travel abroad, where will you go? What will be your first out of the country destination?
For us Filipinos, we recommend Hong Kong during their “winter” months. You will experience a totally different climate than what we are accustom to, unless you happen to live in Baguio, Sagada, Bukidnon, and those mountain towns in the country, then it’ll be similar. Visit HK on November, December, January, and February for that chilly weather, you will need a jacket! Cool! If you can, avoid Hong Kong during summer months.
Another reason is there is no visa needed to go there. You just book your airline tickets, hotel, and attractions via diy, or you get an all-in Hong Kong package from trusted travel agencies like Travel Bug PH. You will save with HK because there is no visa fee to think about. Filipinos can enter the territory visa-free!
The third reason is Disneyland. Family and friends bonding time is important for us Pinoys, and there’ll be loads of bonding fun when you get to visit this theme park. If possible, get the whole day package, instead of a half-day visit. Consult your travel agent, if what you are getting in the quotation given to you is a half-day or full-day visit to the park.
We also recommend you get a 2 in 1 ticket to the Disneyland Park, the one that comes with a meal (lunch or dinner). Why? Meals inside are expensive. If you pre-booked a ticket with meal, be it just lunch or just dinner, or both, you can definitely save. Another tip, if you want to save, time your visit to Disneyland on a Tuesday or Thursday, because most likely those days are considered Tier 1 by the park. There is an additional fee, a surcharge if you will choose a Tier 3 or Tier 4 date, which is usually during holidays there or Friday – Saturday -Sunday visits.
*Alternative to Disneyland is Oceanpark. BUT we have Oceanparks here in the country – Manila and Cebu. So best to prioritize visiting Hong Kong Disneyland instead.

The fourth reason is lots of choices when it comes to tourist spots! There are spots with no entrance fee, but you will spend for the transport going there. Examples are:
- Avenue of Stars, Victoria Harbour
- Victoria Peak, Lion’s Den
- Nan Lian Garden, Chi Lin Nunnery
- Central, Soho District
- Symphony of Lights Show
The fifth is, you can cruise without breaking the bank, because there are Joiners cruise tours that starts in Victoria Harbour. Here in the Philippines, the top of mind recall for a cruise is the Bohol Loboc River cruise, the scenes between these two are worlds apart. In a Victoria Harbour cruise, whether via a yatch or via the Hong Kong traditional junk boats, the vista is that of sky high buildings and towers!
How Many Days Is Ideal for Hong Kong
Since gagastus ka din naman, we hope you will go there for at least a 4 days 3 nights. This will effectively give you 2 days of pure adventure! The first and last day are travels day from the Philippines, which will give you little or enough time to pack-in a city exploration or a quick optional tour, depending on your flight arrival and departure in HK.
During Cebu Pacific promo, Philippine Airlines seat sales, Air Asia deals, Cathay Pacific offers – look for cheap flights with early morning departures from Manila, Cebu, Davao etc, you will most likely arrive in Hong Kong just before lunch and have enough time to roam around, like to catch a sunset cruise or go to Mongkok to check its bustling scene, or go to Soho and track those murals for some photoshoots, just to give a few suggestions.
So, are you choosing to go to Hong Kong for your first travel abroad? We hope you will! Enjoy HK from your Piso Fare PH Family.
